Mentoring with a Vision (MWAV) delivers employability, effective conflict resolution, communication, and life skills by providing high-quality mentoring services which improves literacy/reading strategies, empowers adolescents to develop a more rewarding life, and improves the quality of life for all citizens in Shelby County.
Mentoring with a Vision strives to empower adolescents to discover their potential and purpose in life. This collaboration pushes students to release their strengths which allows them to reach their
life-long goals and dreams.
Our target population are adolescents who live in underserved areas within Shelby County, TN and lack effective communication, conflict resolution, life, or employability skills, desire assistance with getting on track, improving their craft, increasing their reading skills, and/or becoming more effective in their efforts.
Our goal is to guide and assist adolescents in building a level of progress in their lives where one may attain countless fulfillments.
We are local community partners with Junior Achievement of Greater Memphis who has been dedicated to educating students about work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy throughout the
Memphis & the Mid-South since 1955.

Dr. Angelica has been a Teacher Education Professor for over 10 years and has over 20 years of teaching reading, advising, mentoring, and life coaching experience within the K-12 sector. During her career, she’s worn many hats as an Academic Coach, Academic Advisor, Educational Consultant, Instructional Coach, Dissertation Coach, Professional Learning Coach, New Teacher Mentor, Instructional Facilitator, RTI Coordinator, Reading Specialist, Team Leader, and Reading Teacher. She is a proud graduate of South Side High School (Memphis, TN), and later graduated from The University of Memphis in 2001 (B.S.), 2002 (B.A.), 2005 (M.A.T), and 2018 (Ed. D; Literacy/Reading). She is also a member of the Memphis Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated.

We strive to re-imagine lives with extensive experience in teaching, life coaching, mentoring, and academic advising which includes a vast history of client success through an individualized approach to assists with attaining goals.
